(My great grandfather was Henry N. Britt.) Polly indicated on the 1900 census that she birthed seven children, six were still living at census time. The name of the seventh child has not been found as of 10/21/2000. Additional note: on the 1900 census, John's wife is listed as Polly W.; however, Crawford County marriage records indicate that John was married to Mollie Davis. An earlier marriage has not been confirmed. There aren't any other dates on her grave in this cemetery. Her name looks as though it was written with a stick or something in the concrete while it was still wet. 1900 Census, Crawford County, Georgia; June 14, 1900; District 497, Page 154a, # 256/256: Britt, John J., Head, W/M, Jan 1867, 32, M-15, GA, GA, GA, Farmer Britt, Polly W., Wife, W/F, Sep 1858, 41, M-15, 7/6, GA, GA, GA, None Britt, William, Son, W/B, Jun 1887, 13, S, GA, GA, GA Britt, Solom J., Son, W/B, Apr 1890, 10, S, GA, GA, GA Page 154b: Britt, Nellie M., Dau, W/F, May 1891, 9, S, GA, GA, GA Britt, Horace, Son, W/M, Dec 1892, 7, S, GA, GA, GA Britt, Forest, Son, W/M, Dec 1892, 7, S, GA, GA, GA Britt, Leslie, Dau, W/F, Feb 1896, 4, S, GA, GA, GA The story that I have gotten from family research members is that Polly and John Jasper were living in Grady County and Polly had returned to Crawford County to visit relatives. While she was here, she died and they buried her in the family plot, instead of returning her to Grady County. We have not determined who her parents are, but feel they are buried in the Davis plot. Rozine Sheets DonaRoze@aol.com =============== "Barbara Grizzle" Solomon and Aleatha Barnes Davis are my husband's gggrandparents. Aleatha Barnes b. ca. 1811 and died after the 1880 census. She was the daughter of John S. and Sarah Yarbrough Barnes. Melinda Jane Davis Schofield, dau. of Solomon and Letha Davis, b. 1838, d. 1921 m. Reece Busby Schofield 1853. A.(Allen) R. Davis b. Oct. 3, 1819, d. Jan. 16, 1879 was probably a brother to Solomon but I have no proof of this.( Solomon and Letha named a son Allen R.(Ramsey) Davis) This man (A. R. d. 1879) was killed by a mule.(The Hawkinsville Dispatch) Wm. B. Davis was son of Solomon and Letha, Lucy Green Davis was his wife. John S. Davis, son of Wm. B. and Lucy Green Davis was killed in a hunting accident in April 1879(the Butler Herald). My husband, John B. Grizzle, Jr, descends from Solomon and Letha's daughter, Roduskia b. 1850, who married George Washington Busbee b. 1854 all of Crawford County. The Busbees were his ggrandparents. I have no knowledge of any of the others buried in the cemetery or how they are related, but would really be interested in knowing all about the them. Also, if anyone knows the identity of the unmarked graves. Hope this helps. Barbara Grizzle bjgrizzle@mindspring.com
