Ray, Ordinary of said county. The petition of John Becham of said county respectfully showeth that he is head of a family consisting of himself, wife and seven minor children to wit; Seaborn, Susan, Martha, John, Dora, Lila and Alice and that he, your petitioner, owns and possesses the following property free and exempt from encumbrance from taxes, money borrowed and invested in the improvement of the homestead or for purchase money of the same or for labor done therein or material furnished therefor or for removal of encumbrances thereon, to wit; lot of land No. 29 containing two hundred two & half acres more or less situated(?) lying and being in ? District of originally of the said Crawford County and the following personally; _______ Hogs $45.00 5 Head Cattle $25.00 $65.00 ______ Pigs $10.00,Household & Kitchen Furniture $30 $40.00 75 Bushels corn $67.00, 1600 lbs. seed cotton $64.00 $131.00 1 Old Wagon $10.00, Farming Implements $5.00 $15.00 $251 .00 And your petitioner prays that the above described land and personalty be allowed set apart and exempted from levy and sale in accordance in accordance with the Constitution of the State of Georgia and the Statute of the same State entitled an Act to provide for setting apart a homestead of realty and personalty to be approved Oct 3rd,1868 and that order issue to County surveyor requiring him to enter upon said lot of land No. 29 and lay off petitioners homestead thereon and report in on or by 18th instant to your honor.
