The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the court aforesaid has this day bound unto the said Sherwood Whittington an orphan boy by the name of Powell Calhoun, son ------ Calhoun (space has a line drawn thru where first name should be) deceased of the age of Ten years for Eleven years or until he arrives at the age of twenty one. Now if the said Sherwood Whittington shall treat use and deal with said orphan agreeable to law in such case made and provided then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force and effect. Witness his Philip J. ECHOLS Sherwood WHITTINGTON mark (seal) In 1850, the Crawford County census listed a P. M. Calhoun Jr., age 24 (born about 1826-27), in the household of P. M. Calhoun, Sr. age 60, and his wife Sarah, age 52. The 24 year old might be the person mentioned above, and perhaps a grandson to P. M. Calhoun Sr. Just thought I'd throw that in for anyone researching this
