Dent dated Feb 8, 1869 Court of Ordinary Minutes, Book A, pp 38-39 Georgia Crawford County, To James J. Ray Ordinary of said County. The petition of John W. Dent of said County respectfully showeth that he is the head of a family that he owns & possesses in his own right clear & exempt from any encumbrances for taxes money borrowed & expended in the improvement of the homestead or the purchase money of the same or for labor done thereon or for material furnished therefore, a plantation in Crawford County situated lying & being in the seventh & second district of said County of Crawford of the following lots. Numbers one hundred & twenty seven & ninety eight in said seventh district, one hundred & fifty acres of lot No.173 & 202 1/2 acres being lot No. 179 the latter described land lying & being in the second district of said County of Crawford containing in all seven hundred & fifty seven & half acres more or less. And the following schedule of personal property Household & kitchen furniture valued at $200.00 6 mules valued at 75 dollars 450.00 2 cows & calves @ 10 each 20.00 2 horse wagon & harness 35.00 1 Horse & buggy 150.00 4 Horse Wagon 50.00 Plantation Tools 25.00 1 Yoke oxen 50.00 $1000.00 Wherefore your petitioner prays that an order may be granted by your honor directed to J. Northrop Smith surveyor in said County requiring him to enter upon said lands heretofore described in this petition & lay off to your petitioner his homestead in said lands according to the Constitution of the State of Georgia & the Statute of the State approved Oct 3rd 1868 in such cases made & provided & that the personal property contained in the foregoing schedule shall be admitted to record under the Statute above cited. Dent described in the foregoing petition & lay off John W.
