June 28, 1892 Knoxville, Ga., June 22. -- The little twelve-year old daughter of Mr. John Bentley, who lives a few miles west of here, was struck and instantly killed by lightning late yesterday evening. She and her little brother had been playing out in the yard, and she had just taken a seat on the flower step that had been placed under the tree. The bolt struck the tree, and ranged downward to the ground. She did not come in actual contact with the stroke, but the shock was so great that her nature could not overcome it. The little boy was badly shaken up, but recovered from the shock.
