Molton Rites To Be Held Today Funeral services for Mrs. J. T. Molton, Sr., of 1186 Pio Nona Avenue, who died in a local hospital early Thursday, will be held in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary at 11 a.m. Friday. Elder Cecil Darity will officiate and burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery. "Granny" Molton, as she was familiarly known, was formerly Miss Kittie Britt, daughter of Henry and Mrs. Elizabeth Britt, and was born in Crawford County. She had lived in Macon for 48 years and was a member of the Providence Church in Roberta. Surviving are three sons, F. C. and J. T. Molton Jr. of Macon and H. N. Molton of Augusta: three daughters, Mrs. L. L. Davis and Mrs. J. M. Ross of Macon and Mrs. W. A. Andrews of Roberta: 32 grandchildren: 46 great-grandchildren: two sisters, Mrs. Mary Revell of Fitzgerald and Mrs. O. C. Prince of Ft. Valley. Pallbearers will be Harold Molton, Reid Molton, Bill Molton, Cleveland Molton, Leon Davis and Bertrand Davis. #2 The Macon Telegraph, Friday Morning, September 14, 1934 Molton Funeral Rites Scheduled in Chapel Today Charles J. Molton, prominent in building contracting here for the past 30 years, died at an early hour yesterday morning at his home on Hillyer Avenue. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a. m. today in the chapel of the Burghard-Connally with Elder Henry Swain and Elder Yancy Hicks, both of Primitive Baptist pastorates in charge of the services. The body will be placed in the mausoleum at Riverside cemetery, pending the erection of a private mausoleum. Mr. Molton, who was 52 years old, was born in this city and spent his entire life here. He figured in the building of many of Macon's finest homes, and superintended the erection of the Georgia Casualty building, the Georgia Academy for the Blind and was contractor for the new Appleton church home. He was for many years in the lumber business and was owner of the old Macon Stock Yards. Ill Several Months Mr. Molton had been sick for several months and his death was not unexpected. Surviving are his wife, who was before her marriage Miss Sarah Newberry of this city: two (next line can't be read), Mrs. T. A. Davis: two sons, Cecil J. Molton, and Charles T. Molton: his mother, Mrs. J. T. Molton, Sr.: one grandson, Lige Moore, Jr., all of Macon: three sisters, Mrs. Martha Ross and Mrs. W. A. Andrews of Skipperton: four brothers, J. H. Molton, J. T. Molton, H. N. Molton and F. C. Molton, all of this city. Ferrell N. Johnson, D. Otis Devereaux, Raymond A. Johnson, A. S. Hatcher, Jr., and John Birch will be pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers will be Dr. I. H. Adams, C. R. Bishop, Walter DeFore and J. Molton, well known local contractor, died at his residence, 4224 Capitol Avenue, at 5:15 p. m. yesterday after a long illness. Mr. Molton was born in Crawford County, the son of John T. Molton and Mrs. Kittie Britt Molton, and had lived in Macon most of his life. He was a member of the Southside Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary at 11 a. m. Wednesday. The Rev. S. P. Clary and the Rev. Henry K. Erwin will officiate and burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Emmie Wilcoxon, Macon; a son, Reid Molton, Macon: a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Kweatkowski, Macon; five grandchildren, two brothers, Forrest C. Molton, Macon, Hiram N. Molton, Augusta: and three sisters, Mrs. W. A. Andrews, Roberta, Mrs. J. M. Ross and Mrs. L. L. Davis, Sr., Macon. #4 The Macon Telegraph, Tuesday Morning, March 6, 1934 J. T. Molton Dies At House of Son Former Roberta Man Leaves 12 Great Grandchildren John T. Molton, Sr., 82, died at the home of his son, F. C. Molton on Houston Avenue. at ? o'clock (hard to read, but could be 5,6,8,or 9) last night. Mr. Molton was born in Crawford County near Roberta on September 30. 1852 and lived there until 1902 when he moved to Macon. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p. m. today at the Liberty Methodist Church. Elder J. Harvey Dally, pastor of the Providence Primitive Baptist Church of which Mr. Molton was a member will officiate, assisted by Elder R. F. Williams. Interment will be in the family lot at the Liberty Church. Pallbearers will be the following grandsons: Cecil Molton, Wallace Molton, Roy Ross, Cleveland Molton, James Ross, and Douglas Andrews. Mr. Molton is survived by his wife, the former Miss Katherine Britt of Roberta; three brothers, Frank, Jake and Tom Molton, all of Macon: a sister, Mrs. Mary Webb of Macon, three daughters, Mrs. W. A. Andrews of Roberta, Mrs. J. M. Ross of Ft. Valley, and Mrs. L. L. Davis of Skipperton; five sons, J. H. , C. J., F. C., J. T. and H. N. Molton all of Macon; 32 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
