Archibald Franklin Knight
 
my great-grandfather,  was born 14 July 1844, Crawford County, GA, and died 13 
September 1923, Ben Hill County, GA.  Archibald served  throughout the Civil 
War with Crawford County’s Company K, 45th Regiment Georgia, an element of 
General Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia, beginning 1 June 1862.  He was 
captured 25 March 1865 during the final stages of the Siege of Petersburg (a 
late stage of the Battle of Petersburg).  Archibald was held prisoner of war at 
Point Lookout, Maryland from 27 March 1865 to 28 June 1865, at which time he 
was released and he returned to Crawford County, GA to rejoin his family.

Photo previously submitted approx 2003 to very first photo project in the 
archives.
