Pattershall. First in the 62D Regiment Ga. Infantry which was later designated as the 62D Reg. Ga. Cavalry. This unit was broken up on July 11, 1864 and became the 8th Reg. Ga. Cavalry. The 8th served in J. Dearing's Brigade and was active in the Petersburg siege North and South of the James River around Appomattox. Robert surrendered with his Reg. on April 26,1865 at Raleigh, N.C..
