Officer will be elected and the organization will get under way at once. In the first issue of the Crisp County News, we whole heartily endorsed such a movement, since which time Mr. Bob Dekle and others have been working steadily on the project, to the end that the organization is now an assured fat and nothing better could possibly be done for our city. Therefore, we feel that we have already accomplished some good. The editor of this paper is a firm believer in chambers of commerce and has devoted a great portion of his life along those lines,--being secretary of several live organizations of that name. We have seen GREAT and LASTING good accomplished along those same lines and KNOW that Cordele is doing the right thing at the right time. The Crisp County News will be behind this organization 100 percent and the WHOLE PAPER will be at the disposal of the secretary if needed. It is most earnestly hoped that the meeting next Tuesday evening will be one of the largest attended in the history of Cordele and that the enthusiasm will be GREAT. Let nothing short of death or critical illness inthe family keep you away. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IS ORGANIZED The organization of the Crisp County Chamber of Commerce was perfected in the offices of Mr. C. L. Garwood last Tuesday evening in a most enthusiastic manner. Quite a number of our citizens were present and all eagerly joined the organization. The meeting was call to order with Dr. C. A. Adams in the chair and Mr. C. L. Garwood acting as secretary. After stating the object of the meeting, all present were given the opportunity to become members and the below listed signed up: Cordele Dispatch Crisp County News C. M. McKenzie H. C. Drake W. E. Pridgen Dr. T. E. Jennings A. H. Harris W. G. Gleaton Dr. P. H. Tipton Bob Harris Myer Miller W. J. McClenny W. R. Turner W. C. Reynolds B. I. Thornton C. L. Garwood N. E. Ware R. L. Dekle J. C. Dorough Dr. M. R. Smith Upon motion the chair appointed a committee of three to nominate a Board of Governors, composed of seven, whose duty would be to e;ect a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer and to attend to the other important and financial affairs of the organization. This committee retired and soon returned with the following names. W. R. Turner, Chairman T. F. Jennings, W. G. Gleaton, A. H. Harris, Guy T. Cobb, Lon Burton, W. J. McClenny--the president, vice-president and secretary to also be added to the board. The nominations were unanimously confirmed by the body. After some time spent in discussion relative to the good of the order, the meeting adjourned with the understanding that the Board of Governors would at once go into session and elect the officers of the organization. This was done with the below results: Dr. C. A. Adams, was elected Presdient Mr. R. L. Dekle was elected Vice-President Mr. C. L. Garwood Temporary Secretary, with the understanding that he would be relieved by a full time secretary at the first possible moment. This will no doubt be done in the very near future,as the board now has a desirable man in sight. It only requires one dollar to become a member of the Crisp County Chamber of Commerce and it is earnestly hoped that all citizens of Cordele and Crisp County who feel an interest in the future prosperity of the city and county, and who have not already done so, will go at once to the office of Secretary Garwood, in the First National Bank Building, register and pay the dollar, as immediate funds are necessary to the success of the organization./; Another mass meeting will be called by the Board of Governors at an early date at which time all details of organization will be completed.
