                            HIS FIREWORKS WENT OFF
                                4 JANUARY 1903
     Harry Jones, a 13 year old white boy and stepson of Mr. Frank Fountain of
Cordele has been in a critical condition and near death's door for a week, from
the effect of fireworks on Christmas night. The little fellow had a number of
roman candles under his shirt on Christmas night and the fire from the one he
was shooting in some way ignited the bundle and the discharge badly burned his
body, neck and face.
