D. . STANDARD] The grade schools of the city public schools came to a close this morning when promotion cards were distributed to all children who passed the grades. A simple exercise at the Stadium this morning at 9:30, certificates of graduation were delivered to about 75 boys and girls. These certificates were given to al who had completed work for the eighth grade and entitles the holder to promotion to ninth grade in high school. The following honors and medals were awarded: First honor graduate: Nelle Ellis; Second honor graduate: John Lee Espy; D. A. R. citizenship medals: Billy King and Carolyn Taylor; Highest Average in Junior High School: Nelle Ellis. Perfect attendance record:[Neither absent or tardy] Herbert Wehlitz, Joe Wilson, John Lee Cox, Minnie Redd, Vivian Wilson, Oscar Wilcox, Jake Culler, Howard Dorough, Marvin Dorough, Gladine Culpepper, Virginia Culpepper.
