                            SWIFT CREEK CULLINGS
          Mrs. Clements Gives Liberally Towards New Church at Zion Hope
     Dirt will be broken in a few days for a new road from Acorn Pond to Cordele
by the ay of Zion Hope. This road is much needed and these people should have it.
     There was an all-day singing at Zion Hope on the second Sunday, where quite
a congregation gathered to enjoy the sweet music made by the well developed vocal 
chords of Profs. Royals, Cooper and others. And that dinner!! well, Zion Hope
people don't do things by halves, when it comes to getting up something good to
eat.
     There has been but little fishing this week. The farmers have not the time
now to fish, for  "General Green" is pushing his army rapidly to the front.
     The annual picnic at Bridges school house Saturday was a much enjoyed
occasion by the young people.
     J. J. Stephens, of Dawson, has returned home after a short visit to his,
brother G. J. Stephens, of the Fork. Joe is a jolly, good fellow, and we are
always glad to have him visit us.
     The lumber is in readiness for a new church in place of the old, one at
Zion Hope. That good sister, Mrs. Eliza Clements, deserves much praise for
giving Zion Hope that lumber [20,000 feet] with which to build a new church.
Besides this donation, she has, I learn. given $300.00, too be used to pay
carpenters to build this new church. God will certainly bless a heart of that kind.
     Good Lord, do give us men and women who build school houses so comfortable
and so strong that the fair little teachers, and their pupils will not be
excited when storms are raging. "So mite it be."
