A Georgia Southern locomotive rolled into town at a rapid rate with a steam of fire bursting from its tender and blowing its whistle vigorously. It was stopped by the engineer, opposite the fire plug at Ninth street and Twelfth Avenue. A hose reel was quickly on the scene and a stream of water turned on the burning engine. The fire was extinguished and the engine was carried back to the train which it had left two miles south of the city.
