Brown who died Monday in Crisp County hospital will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the St. James Baptist Church in Cordele Georgia. Elder E.J. Williams will officiate, and the burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 11 a.m. and there will be no viewing of the remains after the service. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ester Brown of Cordele; two foster daughters, Mrs. Margie Hamm, Cordele and Mrs. Bobbie N. James, Albany; three sisters, Mrs. Matilda Cannady, Mrs. Lovie Sanders, and Mrs. Mattie Bell Lawrence all of Cordele; one brother , Frizell Brown, Cordele; and a number of other relatives. J.W. Williams Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: Ben J. Brown is the sister of my grandmother Mattie Bell Lawrence. Their parents name was Ben J. Brown Sr. and Maggie Brown. No information is known about their mother. She was accidently murdered when the children were young and their father Ben J. Brown Sr. side of the family raised them. They were all born in Georgia around the Dooly, Crisp, Pulaski, and Telfair counties. The children's grandmother (paternal) name is Miltida Brown 1839-1948. Her body is laid to rest in the Davis Chapel C.M.E. Church Cemetery, located in Arabi, Ga. Her other children, which is Ben J. Brown Jr. uncles and aunt are also laid to rest in the cemetery.
