Carmichael, who succumbed Friday in the government hospital in Alexandria City, La., were held in a Cordele funeral home Monday afternoon. Mr. Carmichael, a former citizen of Crisp County, had resided in Tyler, Texas for the past several years. He was a World War veteran. The Rev. J. H. House, pastor of the First Methodist church of Cordele conducted the last rites, interment being in Sunnyside cemetery, Cordele. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alma Lee Carmichael and one son, Neil, and three sisters, Mrs. H. B. Childs of Cordele; Mrs. T. R. Revil of Philadelphia, Pa,; and Miss Opa Carmichael of Milledgeville. Mr. Carmichael was a brother-in- law of Mrs. Maynard Bowen of Abbeville, Mrs. Delma Mashburn and Mr. Euly Lee of Rochelle, and probably others. Additional Comments: Luther was born 8-12-1887 to James Edward Carmichael and Martha "Markie" Olivia North Carmichael. Louisiana death certificate #1824. His wife, Alma Lee Carmichael died 6-8-1990 and is buried in Blakely Cemetery in Early County, Georgia.
