               Robert L. Dekle, Pioneer Citizen, Succumbs at 78.
   Robert Lee Dekle, 78, prominent Citizen and a Cordele Funeral Director for 
more than a half centuury, die last night in Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta, where 
he underwent a major operation ten days ago.  He had been in declining health 
for some time.
   Mr. Dekle was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Georgia Funeral 
Directors Association and National Funeral Directors.
   Mr. Dekle was a chartered member and past president of the Cordele Kwanis 
Club, a former member of the City Commission and the City Board of Education.
   He was secty-treas of the Crisp County Democratic Executive Committee, an 
office he held for a number of years.
   He and his brother, the late George L. Deke, formed one of Cordele's 
earlier business firms --  Dekle Brothers.
   Mr. Dekle is survived by his wife, the former Daisy Cobb, five daughters,  
Mrs. Dan Chappell, and Mrs. Carl Bass of Miami; Mrs. Garriett Fitzgibbons, 
College Park; Mrs. Britt G. Williams, Cordele and Mrs. Fred Derrick, Jr. of 
Clayton., a bother J. Dekle of Swainsboro and one sister.
   Nine grandchildren and a great grand child also survive.
   Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced by 
the Dekle Funeral Home.

Compiler Notes:  His grave states {picture} he died on the 18 March 1953 and 
his place of death is Fulton County, the date stated 18 March 1953 and the 
Certificate Number was #6324.
