G. L. Dekle Passes At Boyhood Home. PROMINENT CORDELE CITIZEN CLAIMED BY DEATH SATURDAY AT SUMMIT - FUNERAL HELD THIS AFTERNOON. Death claimed Mr. George L. Dekle, well known Cordele Citizen, Saturday evening at seven-thirty at the home of his daughter Mrs. Walter Coney at Summit. Mr. Dekle was sixty-three years of age, and had been in failing health for some months. He was a native of Emanuel County, but had been a resident of Cordele for forty two years. During the first years of his resedence in Cordele he was engaged in hardware business with his brother R. L. Dekle, in the firm of G. L. Dekle & Brother. Mr. Dekle accompanied by his devoted wife, had spent the past several months in Summit, his boyhood home, in an effort to regain his health. His death brought sorrow to a wide circle of friends here whose sympathy goes out to the bereaved ones. Mr. Dekle was one of Cordele''s most prominent and highly esteemed business men. During the years of his residence here, he saw Cordele grow from a Village to the present thriving little City, and in its progress he had a part and interest. In passing Cordele has lost a trure citizen. Mr. Dekle was a loyal member of the Baptist Church, a christian gentleman devoted to home and family and a friend to those who called him friend. Surviving are his wife, Mrs Callie Dekle, two daughters Mrs. Walter Coney of Summit and Mrs P. V. McKivey, of Orlando, Fla. two brothers, R. L. Dekle, of Cordele, and J. I. Dekle of Metter, and one sister Mrs Iva L. Fordham, also of Metter survive, and two small grandchildren. Funeral services were held this afternoon at two o'clock from the First Baptist Church of which the deceased was a member, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. L. Drake. The pall bearers included: Messrs. J. W. Bivins, J. N. King, C. L. Mc Millian, L. G. Booth, U. V. Whipple, T. E. Jennings, Jerry Slade and W. A. Dorriis. Interment was in Sunnyside.
