                           DEATH OF L. M. DOUGHTRY
            Dies Suddenly Sunday Night at Jacksonville Florida
     Mr. L. M. Doughtry, for several years a popular resident of Cordele, until
a few months ago when he moved to Jacksonville, Fla., died suddenly Sunday night
last.
     At 7 O'clock that night ne accompanied his wife and child to the train to
visit her parents, Hon> D. L. F. Peacock. of near Unadilla, in this county. On
his return home, about 9 o'clock, in a prominent hotel, he suddenly died of hear
failure.
     Mason, as he is familiarly known in Cordele, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. D.
T. Doughtry, who, also, for years were residents of Cordele, and had moved to
Jacksonville a year or two ago; was a brother to Mr. D. A. Doughtry, of
Tallahassee, Mr. W. T. Doughtry and Mrs. R. E. Harris , of Cordele, and was
about 80 years old.
     At the request of his wife the remains were interred at Unadilla, near her
father's home, the services being conducted by Rev. J. D. Winchester, pastor
First Baptist Church of Cordele. Besides his father and mother, his brothers and
sisters, Mrs. R. C. Harris, Mrs. U. V. Whipple, Messrs. R. E. Harris and R. L.
Wilson, of Cordele attended the burial at Unadilla Tuesday afternoon.
     Mason Doughtry was universally popular, possessed noble traits of character
and was consistent member of the Baptist Church. His untimely death shocked and
grieved his host of friends.
     To his bereaved wife and only child, to parents, relatives and friends, the
SENTINEL joins in extending heartfelt  sympathy.
