DODGE COUNTY NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS Volume II. 1893-1907 By: Tad Evans See Page 735 ( Date ) Thursday, October 19. 1899 See Page 736 ( Obituary ) IN MEMORY Mrs. Mary Edwards, widow of Judge Wm H. Edwards. Died in Cordele, Ga., at the residence of her son, Dr. W. E. Edwards, on September 24th, 1899. She was on a visit expecting to spend a happy year with her two youngest sons and other member of her family, living in that section. Before she had realized fully her expectations, daet broke the chalice and God took her to drink in sweeter joys and happiness with His family above. At her request she was buried in Cordele and Brother Weston preached her funeral. Sister Edawrds was seventy-three years of age--had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South fifty-three years and love the church. She had eleven children, six sons and five daughters, and reared them to manhood and womanhood. Nine of them are members of the church. Five of her sons abstain totally from the use of whiskey and tobacco in any form. All of them hold respectful positions in society, are law abiding citizens, and doing well in the world. Verily “ she looeth well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bred of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed.” This is a rare and good record. The writer hs known her sixty years. She was a good Christian woman, and possessed of excellent, noble and admirable traits of character. R. W.
