Lamb Dies At Home Mrs. Edna Hill Lamb, 77, prominent Cordele matron, widow of John Homer Lamb, died at 9:45am today at her home, 711-North Seventh Street. She had been in failing health for some time. Born in Wilcox County, Mrs. Lamb was the daughter of the late Joel Thomas Hill and Mary Moore Hill. She had been a resident of Cordele for 57 years. Survivors are one son, Joe Hill Lamb, Cordele; four grandchildren, Joe Hill Lamb Jr., USAF San Antonio, Texas; Miss Denny V. Lamb, Washington, DC; Mrs. James H. Mixon, Cordele; and Miss Peggy Lamb, Cordele; and one great grandchild, Vicki Lynn Mixon, Cordele. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at press time, but will be announced by the Dekle Funeral Home. The Cordele Dispatch 15 Aug 1955 Page 6 Mrs. J. H. Lamb Funeral Sunday Funeral services for Mrs. J. H. Lamb, 77, beloved long-time resident of Cordele, were held unday at 3pm from the chapel of the Dekle Funeral Home and were conducted by the Rev. Clifton E. Fite, pastor of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Edd Jones and George Jordan sang "Abide With Me". Mrs. Bruce Williams Sr. was organist. Serving as pallbearers were L. B. Maddox, G. C. Lewis Sr., Fred Boatwright, Harold Mitchell, Junior Blizzard, and Robert Johnson. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery. Mrs. Lamb's death occurred Friday morning at the family home on North Seventh Street. She had been ill for some time. The widow of J. H. Lamb, Mrs. Lamb was before her marriage, Miss Edna Hill, membr of a prominent Wilcox county family. Additional Comments: Edna was born 16 Feb 1878. Georgia death certificate #17606.
