Crisp County News
         MR.ABB W. MARTIN DIES FROM INJURIES RECEIVED SATURDAY NIGHT
     Mr. Abb W. Martin, age 64 years, died at the local hospital Monday
afternoon from injuries received Saturday night from a hit and run car on the
highway at the north end of Bethel bridge.
     Mr. Martin, lived out on the Adkins road about two miles. He has been a
resident of Crisp County for the past seventeen years, coming here from Sumter
county, where he was born and reared. He was recognized for his honesty and
integrity and fair dealings with his fellow man. He was a devoted husband and
father.
     Funeral services were conducted from the Arabi Cemetery Church, Tuesday
afternoon at 3:30 P. M. by Rev A. B. Hosea.
     Survivors: His wife, Mrs. Daisy Martin; three boys, Joe A.; Jack and Theron
Martin, all of Cordele; three daughters; Mrs. Robert McDaniel; Mrs. A. J. Pool,
and Miss Irene Martin all of Cordele: four brothers; Newt Martin, Albany;
Moreland Martin, Americus; Alford and Henry Martin, of Meigs; Three sisters,
Mrs. J. E. Bowen, Americus; Mrs. Ed Willingham and Mrs. Cleve Strickland, of Meigs.
     Paul bearers: Messrs. P. H. Green, Jake Sheppard, Henry Pitts, M. H. Ellis,
T. V. Wright and J. L. Dorough.
