L. J. ROOBIN AT SANATORIUM HIGHLY ESTEEMED CORDELE MATRON PASSED MONDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN O'CLOCK --------------------------------------------------------------- Following a long illness in which all was done that medical skill could do to stay disease. Mrs. Ida Boniske Roobin wife of Louis J. Roobin, passed away at he Piedmont Sanatorium in Atlanta this morning shortly before eleven o'clock. Her husband, the older children, her mother and some of her brothers and sisters were at her bedside when death came. When the sad news reached Cordele, deep sorrow was manifested throughout the community. It was known here for several days that she had the slightest chance to recover. She had returned from long stay at the Jewish hospital in Baltimore and during her brief stay at home she seemed to show improvement. Soon, however it was necessary for her to return for treatment, and this time she stopped at the Piedmont Sanatorium in Atlanta. There her condition still grew worse until three or four days ago if the hope of recovery was held out. Her death today was momentarily expected. No announcement has been made here today as to funeral plans, but it is probable that the services will take place in Atlanta and the remains will be interred in the Jewish cemetery in Atlanta where her father is buried. All the children here save the two little girls, left this afternoon with James C. Dumas, Joe Aronovitz and William Tapper for Atlanta. Mrs. Roobin was reared in Philadelphia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Boniske. During her married life in Cordele eight children were born to her and besides being a woman of rare attain- ment in Many ways, Mrs. Roobin presided over one of the best homes in the entire community. She was a devoted wife and mother, loyal to all that was good in her community and faithful in the extreme to everything that contributed to the happiness of her husband and children. Her death has brought a peculiarly sad bereavement to a good home and to a community in which she made many friends. Her husband, Mr. L. J. Roobin and eight children, Israel, Jake, Joseph, Max, Samuel, Avron, Rubin Ann and Lena Elizabeth, survive besides her mother, Mrs. R. Boniske, her brother Nathan Boniske of Jacksonville, Max Boniske of Philadelphia, and her sisters Mrs. Dave Boniske, of Cordele, Mrs. Harry Fox, Mrs.Beanin Kantzipper and Miss Eva Boniske all of Philadelphia. Mrs George Miller of Cordele is her aunt. Friends and relatives remaining here are planning to go to the funeral in Atlanta.
