Sheppard Sr., retired business man,and widely known farmer passed away Wednesday evening at 11:30 at his home on 14th Ave.East after a brief illness.Mr.Sheppard was a lifelong resident of Cordele.He was the son of the late George W.Sheppard ,pioneer of Cordele who died in 1919 and Mary Jane Stripling,who passed away in 1895. Deceased was actively associated with the business interests of Cordele till 1925 when he retired devoting his time to farming.He was 67 years of age.he was a member of the Third Street Baptist Church. Mr.Sheppard was twice married .His first wife ,Mattie Lasseter,died in 1911.Of this union two children survive B.F. Sheppard ,Jr.,of Atlanta,and Ward Dunlap Shppard ,of Ft.Valley.His second wife was Pauline Cameron of Savannah,who survives and five children ,Miss Elizabeth Sheppard ,Mrs.Lee Murphy,James Cameron Sheppard,Ruth Sheppard, and Wylie Sheppard,all of Cordele.Five brothers and one sister also survive .They are John S.Sheppard,Will O.Sheppard,David Jackson Sheppard,Jake Sheppard and Mrs.W.T.Perry. Funeral services were at the home Thursday evening at 5 o'clock.Rev.W.L. Roebuck and Rev.Andrew Caraker officiating.
