Edward E. Thompson and his mother, Mrs. A. J. Thompson died at their home Tuesday night within a few hours. Funeral services are to be conducted jointly. Mr. Thompson, 60 years old had been ill but a few days at the time of his death. A resident of Cordele virtually all his life, he was engaged as an electrical contractor. Through his many year's association with the people here he had won the respect and friendship of countless persons. Mrs. Thompson, 80 years old, had lived in Cordele since a few years after her marriage. She had been ill for many months. Her death occurred early Wednesday morning in the same house on Eighth Avenue in which her son died just before midnight Tuesday night. Funeral services are being conducted by the Rev. E. A. Price of Eastman. Vocal music is by the Ellis Quartet. Following the service, interment will be in Sunnyside cemetery. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rosie Cliatt Thompson; one daughter, Mrs. C. H. Brown, of Cordele. and one son, Leon Thompson, of Cordele; four sister's: Mrs. G. C. Lewis, Mrs. L. C. Lewis, Mrs. George L. Riles, and Mrs. G. B. Edge, all of Cordele; three brothers, Sid Thompson of Tallassee, Alabama, J. C. Thompson of Fitzgerald, and Roy L. Thompson of Cordele. Pall bearers will be: Jake Roobin, Dr. W. W. McCollum, Dave Fountain, Louis Noble, W. R. Bartee, and Z. W. Trussell. Mrs. Thompson is survived by three sons and four daughters, who are brothers and sisters of Mr. Thompson, and one sister, Mrs. E. C. hayes, of Tampa, Fla. Pall bearers are her grandsons: G. C. Lewis, Jr.; L. C. Lewis, Jr., D. J. Lewis, Roy Thompson, F. E. Riles and Joe Thompson.
