Cordele Dispatch Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia Wednesday, November 23, 1932 W. H. WESTBROOK DIES AT HOME HERE EARLY WEDNESDAY. PROMINENT CITIZEN AND BUSINESS MAN SUCCUMBS TO ILLNESS. FUNERAL SERVICES TOMORROW MORNING. Death claimed Mr. W. Hampton Westbrook at two-fifteen this morning, following an illness of several weeks at the family home on Thirteen Avenue East. Mr. Westbrook was fifty-one years of age, and for the past year had been in failing health. He was confined to his bed for two weeks, his condition being considered critical from the outset. Death resulted from an attack of pneumonia and complications. In the passing of Mr. Westbrook, Cordele loses one of her most prominent and esteemed citizens, and a pall of sorrow has been cast over the city. The sympathy of a host of friends goes out to the bereaved ones. Mr. Westbrook was born in Sumter county, the son of the late W. H. Westbrook and Mary Kitchens Westbrook, but had resided in Cordele since early boyhood. For many years he was a member of the well known firm of Westbrook Brothers, clothiers, and two years ago assumed complete charge of this business. He served five years as City Commissioner, and at the time of his death was Chairman of the board of City Commisssioner. He was for a number of years, a Steward of the Methodist church and was recently appointed a Trustee. He was a Christian gentleman, held in highest esteem by all who knew him. A fact of unusal sadness in connectionwiith his death was that it occurred on the anniversary of his marriage Twenty-three years ago today. Mr. Westbrook was married to Miss Elizabeth Read, daughter of Rev. K. Read and the late Mrs. Read, of Cordele. Mr. Coley Wynne who was best man will serve as one of the pallbearers, at his funeral tomorrow. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Misses Eula Day and Elizabeth Westbrook, and one son, Hamp Westbrook, III. One brother, Mr. J. T. Westbrook, of Cordele, and a sister, Mrs. Deariso, of Sylvester also survive. Funeral services will be held fro the home tomorrow morning at eleven o'clock, conduuctd by Rev. T. H. Williams, pastor of the First Methodist Church, of which the deceased was a member, assisted by, Rev. J. S. Davis, of the Presbyterian church. Mrs. O. T. Gower will sing as a solo, "Crossing the Bar." Interment will be in Sunnyside cemetery. The active pallbearers will be: Messrs J. H. Jordon, W. P. Fleming, R. L. Evers, Coley Wynne, John R. Brown, Herbert Marshall, Jesse Westbrook, Jr. , D. H. Standard. The Honorary escort will be composed of the following, including members of the City Commission and Stewards of the Methodist church; Messrs Jerry Slade, G. C. Lewis, J. L. Strickland, W. E. Pridgen, Edd Jones, Britt Williams, Walter Pye, J. J. Williams, Sonny Roobin, C. R. Bulloch, D. W. Childers, J. H. Cox, M. F. Davis, W. K. Doninick, E. S. Killebrew, M. H. Mulkey, W. C. Reynolds, P. M. Strickland, F. C. Starr, DR. M. R. Smith, E. F. Tison, E. A. Vinson, A. J. Whelchel, R. L. Wright, W. H. Dorris, J. C. Walters, Paul Hattaway, Dr. N. B. Jones, Otto S. Holt, P. H.
