Death Claims Arthur Wheeler Artur Wheeler,Sr, a member of prominent pioneer families of this section of Georgia, and a life-long resident of Cordele, died this morning at 9:45 at the family home on 14th Ave., East. He had been in failing health for some time. Mr. Wheeler was the son of the late J.J. Wheeler and Lydia Williams Wheeler. He was owner-or-operator of farming interest in Crisp County on lands which have been in his family since this section of South Geaorgis was first settled. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Irene Bazemore; one daughter, Mrs. Sam Roobin, of Cordele, two sons, Arthur Wheeler, Jr. Cordele, and Homer Wheeler, of East Paterson, N.J., and one grandchild, David Roobin, Cordele. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. John S. Sheppard and Mrs. Alma Whatley, both of Cordele. A number of nieces and nepews also survive. Rites Thursday. Funeral services for Mr. Wheeler will be held Thursday afternoon at four o'clock from the First Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. E. Fite, and Rev. J. N. Shell, of the First Methodist Church. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery.
