Wright April Term 1849 } Judge, JC Jane Cartwright } Petition for Dower Vs. The heirs of James Cartwright, Deceased To the Honorable Superior Court of Dade County the Petition of Jane Cartwright, widow and relic of James Cartwright, late of said county, deceased, respectfully showeth, that heretofore to wit on the or about the first day of August 1848, James Cartwright, the husband of your petitioner, departed this life intestate, where whose estate William Cartwright and Oliver Cartwright has administered, in due form of law. And your Petitioner showeth that at the time of the death, of the said James Cartwright, he was seized and possessed, as of his own right and property, lot of land no. 7 - in the 18th district of 4th Section containing 160 acres more or less, part of lot no. 20 in the 18th district of 4th Section containing 7 acres more or less - part of lot no. 173 in the 19th district of 4th Section containing 59 acres more or less - all in the county of Dade part of lot 21 - in the 18th district of 4th Section containing 100 acres more or less, all improved. And your petitioner further showeth that virtue at her entire marriage, nor before nor since, by contract, jointure, will or in any other way or manner, whatsoever was there, nor has there been any separate estate settled upon, or allowed your petitioner, in heirs of Dower, nor has she in any way or manner, relinquished her right to dower as said to said lots of land, wither specially or generally. And your Petitioner further showeth that notice of her intended application, for assignment of Dower, has been given to all parties in interest, in conformity with the States in such case made and provided where for your Petitioner prays the appointment of commissioners to admeasure lay off and assign her dower, to her said lots of land afore described and in duty bound. Jane Cartwright, Widow Dade Superior Court - April Term 1849 Upon the Petition of Jane Cartwright, widow of James Cartwright, deceased, showing that she is entitled to dower, in Lot of land no. 7.18th district of the Section part of lot no. 21.18th & 4th part of lot no. 20.18th section 4th part of lot no. 173 in the 19th &4th Section all in the said county more particularly described in the petition of said widow and praying the appointment of commissioners to admeasure lay off and assign dower to her in said lots of land, it is ordered that, John McKairg, Charles Cayle, Henry Jones, Shadrack C. Hale and Francis McKaig be and they are hereby appointed commissioners, for the purpose aforesaid, that the cleak issue a commission to them accordingly - that hey or a majority of them with a compentant surveyor by them appointed after being duly sworn, and giving notice previously required, unto upon said lots of land and parts of lots, and admeasure, lay off and assign dower to the petitioner in conformity with the statutes in such case mad and provided.
