Hanna to Joseph W. Miller State of Georgia Dade County This indenture made this sixteenth day of January in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty-five between Alexander B. Hanna of the State and County aforesaid of the one part and Joseph W. Miller of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Alexander B. Hanna for and in consideration of the sum of ninety dollars to him in how paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold and by those presents doth service release aforesaid quit claim to said Joseph W. Miller, his heirs and assigns all the right of the Title Interests claim or demand the said Alexander B. Hanna has or may have had in and to the following lots of land to with Lot no. Fifty-six Lot no. Seventy; Lot no. Seventy-five; Lot no. Seventy eight; Lot no. One hundred; and then Lot no. one hundred; Lot no. One hundred and six; Lot no. One hundred and ten and Lot no. One hundred and twelve all in this Eleventh (11th) district of the fourth (4th) section originally of Cherokee, but now Dade County agree to original survey all containing fourteen hundred and forty acres more or less with the right number and appurtenances (?) to said lots of land in anywise appertaining (?) or belonging. To have and to hold the said lots of land to the said Joseph W. Miller so that neither the said Alexander B. Hanna nor his heirs nor any other person claiming as him shall at any time hereafter by anyway or (?) have claim or any right or title to the aforesaid lots of land or its appurtenances (?) or any part thereof. In test whereof the said Alexander B. Hanna hath hereunto set his hand and offered his seal this day and year above written. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of: Richard Blevens C.S. May 11, 1829 Monroe County, TN to John Miller and Nancy Wilson Miller; the family removed to Dade County, GA ca. 1835 where they resided on a place now called, "The Old Lambeth Place." Joseph married "Sarah "Sallie" Davis" of that city. His brother, George, married her sister. About the time Joe married, he made considerable land acquisitions for a young man. MILLER -- Died, at the home of S.R. Mc Nutt, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas., on January 26, 1903, Reverend Joseph W. Miller. Born in Tennessee May 11, 1830; joined the church in childhood; licensed to preach and ordained local deacon, when a young man. Married three times. Brother Miller chose law as a profession and was successful. Yet he always had time to attend church and help hold a meeting. His life was a success. He enjoyed religion, lived happy and died in the faith. His membership was in Clark Circuit when he died. He was a loyal Methodist and died in the faith.
