Sale: Joseph W. Miller to Alexander B. Hanna 11 January 1858 State of Georgia Dade County This indenture made this the eleventh day of January in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty eight between Joseph W. Miller of the County and State aforesaid of the one part and Alexander B. Hanna of the same place of the other part. Witneseth that the said Joseph W. Miller for and in consideration of the sum of twenty-two hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and does by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Alex B. Hanna his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land all of Lot of land known by number two hundred and forty nine (249) and a part of lot number two hundred and fifty (250) to wit commencing at South East corner of said lot 250 then running West to a certain branch thence running up said branch to the s p ring with an additional line so as to include and equal and undivided half of the Spring thence running further up to an original divide line in said lot of land thence running East to the original line thence South with the East boundary line to the beginning corner all containing one hundred and eighty acres more or less all of said lands lying in the Eleventh District and Fourth Section in originally Cherokee, but now Dade County. To have and to hold said tract or parcel of land unto him the said Alexander B. Hanna his heirs and assigns together with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereof the same in any manner belonging to his and their own proper benefit and behalf forever in fee simple. And the said Joseph W. Miller for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators the said bargained premises unto the said Alexander B. Hanna his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof against themselves and against the (?) of all other persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Joseph W. Miller hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written signed sealed and delivered in the presence of: R. F. Hays E. L. Hays J.P. Joseph W. May 11, 1829 Monroe Co, TN to John Miller and Nancy Mary Wilson; the family removed to Dade County ca. 1835 where they resided on 'The Old Lambeth Place" as it is called today. Joe married about 1852 to Sarah 'Sallie' Davis of that community. His brother, George Russell Miller married her sister. MILLER -- Died, at the home of S.R. Mc Nutt, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas., on January 26, 1903, Reverend Joseph W. Miller. Born in Tennessee May 11, 1830; joined the church in childhood; licensed to preach and ordained local deacon, when a young man. Married three times. Brother Miller chose law as a profession and was successful. Yet he always had time to attend church and help hold a meeting. His life was a success. He enjoyed religion, lived happy and died in the faith. His membership was in Clark Circuit when he died. He was a loyal Methodist and died in the faith.
