They lived for a period in the 1850's near Harriet's parents, William and Anna Childers Taylor, and other Childers and Taylor relatives who had migrated to this area in the 1830's and 40's. Before 1860, they bought land in the Yellow Creek area and raised a family. The accompaning photo is a family group picture of the following children. The children grew up in the old home place at Yellow Creek and married into families from Dawson and surrounding counties. Their first child Margaret Jane Eveline Smith (1850-1914) married George Ahymus Ledbetter, the son of Lewis Ledbetter, a neighbor from NC to Dawson Co /Yellow Creek District. Their first son William Joseph Smith (1852-1936)married Sarah Roach who died after their first child. He then married Mary Gilstrap from SC to Forsyth Co Ga. Their second son Emmaziah Jaimah Smith(1854-1919)married Rosetta Elliot in Forsyth Co in 1878. Columbus Boneparte Smith, (1857)third son, died as an infant. Roxanna or Roxy Ann Smith (1858-1930) married Oliver Marion Hill. Eldorado Frances Smith ((1861-1936) never married. Cloma Sarah Smith (1864-?)married an Elliott. Texas Hyjanah Smith ((1867-1954)married George Washington Bailey of Dawson Co. Their daughter Saphrona married Paul Gilstrap, son of Bright Nelson Gilstrap of Conns Creek Cherokee Co. Ga. He was the brother of Charles Asberry Gilstrap, father of Mary Gilstrap who married William Joseph Smith. Alice Mae Smith (1869-bef 1930) never married America Thomas Smith(1872-1949) never married. Marion Lee Smith (1876-1954) married Pearlie Staton from Dawson Co. Many of the descendants of Thomas Harrison and Harriet Elizabeth Taylor continue to gather for family reunions.
