This file was contributed by: Bonnie Toole EToole@aol.com ==================================================================== Land Deeds Sold by Zoath Spooner: Dartmouth, MA: Know all men by these presents that I, Zoath Spooner, of Dartmouth, in ye County of Bristol and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Mariner, in consideration of fifteen pounds lawful money to me in hand paid before ye delivery hereof by Nathaniel Spooner, of said Dartmouth, Yeoman, the receipt hereof I do hereby acknowledge, have given, granted and bargained and sold, and do by these presents, give, grant, bargain and sell unto him ye said Nathaniel Spooner, his heirs, and assigns forever, a certain piece of salt marsh lying and being in Dartmouth, aforesaid, in that part called (Sconticut) neck, night some rocks called Squash-Hunk Rocks, and is bounded Northerly by William Kompton's marsh, Easterly by the salt water, Southerly and Westerly by upland and marsh belonging to ye heirs of Jethro Delano, deceased, containing about two acres be same more or less, it being ye same which was given unto me by the last will and testament of my hond father Joseph Spooner, late, of said Dartmouth, deed, for more particular bo Zoath Spooner Signed, sealed, and delivered in the presence of us Simeon Nash Edward Pope BRISTOL, September ye 9th, 1786. Then personally appeared the within named Zoath Spooner, and acknowledge the written instrument to be his act and deed. Before me. Edw. Recorded in the records of Bristol Co., Mass., Book 66, Page 39 New Bedford, MA: Know all men by these presents that I, Zoath Spooner, of New Bedford, in the County of Bristol, and State of Massachusetts, in consideration of ten pounds to me in hand paid before the delivery hereof by Gameliel Bryant, gentleman of New Bedford, aforesaid, haven given, granted, bargained and sold and by these presents grant, bargain and sell and absolutely convey and confirm unto him said Gamaliel, to his heirs, and assigns forever a certain parcel of land lying and being in New Bedford, aforementioned, by estimation twenty acres more or less. It being the West end of the homestead farm formerly belonging to Joseph Spooner, butted and bounded as followeth, vis; beginning at a stake and a heap of stones and bound by the highway that leads to Perry's Neck, and is in the line that runs North seventeen degrees East of head line of ye first teer of lots, thence South seventeen degrees West about fourty rods till it comes to ye land lately owned by Thomas Wrightington, thence East eleven degrees South eighty one r In witness hereof I do hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of November Anno Domino one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven. Recorded in the records of Bristol Co., Mass., Book 66, Page 384 (Note by Bonnie Toole: The name Gameliel Bryant is spelled both Gameliel and Gamaliel in the same document.) __________ New Bedford, Massachusetts Know all men by these presents that I, Zoah Spooner, of the town of _______ in the county of Burke, Yeoman, for and in consideration of ye sum of seven pounds to me in hand paid, have bargained and sold and do by these presents convey and confirm unto Samuel Perry Jr., of the town of New Bedford, in the County of Bristol, Physician, a certain tract of parcel of land lying situate in New Bedford, it being a part of Joseph Spooner's homestead farm butted and bounded as follows. Being at the Northwest corner of Samuel Perry Jr's, land which he purchased of Simpson Spooner, thence West somewhat Northly in up line between Paul Swift, and the said Zoath, and Gamaliel, until it comes to Charles Statson's land, thence East in up line between said Charles, and the said Zoath, until it comes to Samuel Perry Jr's land, thence in the line between said Samuel, and the said Zoath, until it comes to the bounds first mentioned, containing by estimation about thirty acres. It being all which his hond father gave h Zoath Spooner Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of us. Isaac Miller Lemuel Clark GEORGIA STATE, personally appeared before me David Montaigat, one of ye justices of the peace of ye County of Chatham, in ye State of Georgia. Lemuel Clark, of New Bedford, in Massachusetts State, who being duly sworn maketh oath and saith that he was present and saw the above Zoath Spooner, sign, seal, and as his act and deed deliver the present instrument of writing for the uses and purposes herein mentioned, and that he also saw Isaac Miller, subscribe his name as the other witness thereto.
