The information includes the date of admission, the date and type of discharge and, less frequently, who was listed as the contact person. Please note that these records and any other clinical information can only be made readily available if they are 75 years or older. Newer records require a legal procedure for access. It is estimated 30,000 people buried in the cemeteries on the grounds of the hospital. Primary Contact: Judy Carlisle, Legal Services jcarlis@dhr.state.ga.us 478-445-2642 Another resource is the Department of Archives and History in the Georgia Secretary of State's office. The state archives holds hospital burial records from 1880 to 1951. All the burial records are open for public inspection, an archives spokeswoman said. The archives also hold medical records dating back to 1842.
