Mr. Newton Cloud, prominent citizen who had resided in Decatur County his entire life, died suddenly at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge on March 3. Funeral services were held from Ivey Funeral Home Chapel on March 5 at 4:00 p. m. with Dr. James T. Burrell and Dr. Aubrey Alsobrook officiating. Interment was in Oak City Cemetery with Masonic services at the graveside. Mr. Cloud was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bainbridge. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Orion Lodge F. & A. M. and the Eastern Star. He was born June 3, 1908. Mr. Cloud is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emmie S. Cloud of Bainbridge; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Cloud of Bainbridge; two brothers, the Rev. E. R. Cloud of Bainbridge and Mr. W. O. Cloud of Cuthbert; three sisters: Mrs. L. E. Herring of Bainbridge, Mrs. L. P. Whigham of Lake City, Fla. and Mrs. R. H. Prestage of Macon; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were: Kenneth Cloud, Edwin Cloud, Loring Cloud, Tommy Whigham, Wallace Cameron, Roy Scheffer, Gordon Brooks, Jr. and Jim Brooks.
