Earnest, 72, of this city died Wednesday morning, August 9, at his home on Water Street after a short illness. He is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Hinton, Mrs. C. C. Mulkey, Mrs. O. S. Stewart, all of this city. Mrs. P. W. Cross of Quincy, Fla; one son, C. E. Earnest, Jr. of this city, one sister, Mrs. E. F. Tipton of this city and one brother, Joe Earnest of Donalsonville, Ga. Funeral services were held today at the Cool Springs Cemetery in Faceville, Ga., with the Rev. H. H. Shell officiating. Interment was made in the Cool Springs Cemetery. The following gentleman served as active pallbearers: Messrs. Horace Copeland, Lewis Copeland, Hugh and Clarence Barber, Idus Faircloth and Alford Earnest. E. W. Cox Funeral Home in charge. Source: Volume 25. No. 17.
