Mr. George Edward Earnest, 80, died in Bay Memorial Hospital in Panama City, Fla.; after a lengthy illness on Saturday March 20th, 1976. Funeral services were on Monday, March 22 at 2 p. m. from Smith Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Nichols and Rev. David Halstead, Jr. officiating. Mr. Earnest was a native of Georgia, but had lived in Panama City, Fla. for the past 34 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bobbie Johnson Earnest of Panama City; three sons: C. L. Earnest, Brinson, Ga.; Nolan Earnest, Okeechocbee, Fla.; Leon Earnest, Panama City, Fla.; one daughter: Mrs. Catherine Christian, Albany, Ga.; three sisters: Mrs. Mayrea Gray, Pascagoula, Miss.; Mrs. Ruby Davis, Bainbridge; Mrs. Frances Gilbert, Tallahassee, Fla.; six brothers: Artis Earnest, Dual Earnest and Bernard Earnest, all of Miami, Fla.; Gans Earnest, Okeechocbee, Fla.; Sidney Earnest, Chattahoochee, Fla.; Chambers Earnest, Natachez, Miss.; stepmother: Mrs. Collie Mae Earnest, Tallahassee, Fla.; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were: Ancel Messer, Marion Joyner, George Shores, Lonnie Suggs, Pete Ham, and Louie Cotton. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He was the son of George Ledward Earnest and Sara Penelope Smith.
