Fox Kills Estranged Wife, Radio Announcer With Shotgun Blasts, Kills Self Mrs. George F. Fox and Donald Bryan, announcer for radio Station WMGR, were shot and killed at about 12:30 Tuesday morning in front of the residence of Mrs. Fox's parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Griffin, 1240 East Troupe Street. They died immediately of gunshot wounds inflicted by George F. Fox, who had been separated from his wife for the past several weeks. Shortly after shooting Bryan and Mrs. Fox, Fox attempted suicide by shooting himself in the forehead, and he died at ten o'clock Tuesday morning in the Riverside Hospital. Lieutenant R. E. Watson of the city police department said Tuesday that officers Bostick, Butler, and Strickland answered a call to the Troupe Street address at about twelve - thirty. Also, called to the scene were Sheriff A. E. White and Deputy Louis White. Upon arrival they found Mrs. Fox and Bryan dead from gunshot. According to reports, Mr. and Mrs. Fox have been separated for several weeks and have met on several occasions when they exchanged words in heated argument. When Bryan and Mrs. Fox arrived at the Griffin residence in a taxi, Fox shot his wife as she got out of the cab and shot Bryan inside the cab. The taxi driver Johnny Sanders, ran through the woods nearby. Fox returned to his own automobile, then came back and shot his wife a second time before driving away from the scene. Fox was found about an hour and half later, near Petroleum Carrier Corporation, lying on the seat of his car. He had shot himself through the upper right forehead with a .22 rifle, Lieutenant Watson said. Fox was the owner of a fleet of trucks under lease to Watkins Trucking Company out of Thomasville, and he was a driver for that company. His mother, Mrs. John Moore, lives in Wilson, Arkansas. Bryan came to Bainbridge a short time ago from a radio station in Leesburg, Fla. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bryan of Lumberton, N. C. Source: The Post Searchlight Thursday, July 19, 1951. George Floice Fox was born Abt 1917. He died 17 July 1951 in Bainbridge, Decatur County, Georgia. He is buried in Dyersburg, TN. He shot his wife Eunice Grace Fox at left ear and base of skull. Time of her death was 12:25 AM. George Floice Fox at 1:20 AM shot his self in head. He lived for 8 hours and died at 9:45 AM. Cause of death listed as a suicide. Address at time of his death was 1230 Troupe Street Bainbridge, Decatur County, Georgia. He lived there for 9 years. Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held at four o'clock Friday afternoon in Dyersburg, Tenn., for George Fox, 34 year old Bainbridge resident, who died in a local hospital Tuesday morning from self-inflicted gunshot wounds. A native of Dyersburg, Tenn., Fox had been a resident of Bainbridge for the past nine years and he was employed as a truck driver. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. John Moore of Wilson, Arkansas. His body was shipped to Dyersburg by Ivey Funeral Home.
