Griffin, At Eleven Today Bainbridge and Decatur County suffered a great loss in the death of Mr. Wiley M. Griffin, Sr., 78, which occurred Tuesday [9-29-1959] following a lengthy illness. A retired grocery store operator in the Pine Hill Community, Mr. Griffin was a native and lifetime resident of Decatur County. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Deacons. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Doshia E. Griffin, he is survived by six daughters, Mrs. James D. Floyd and Mrs. L. M. Jones, both of Bainbridge, Mrs. Felton Long, Huntington, N.Y., Mrs. R. E. Mahan, Washington, D.C., Mrs. Owen Aultman, Brinson and Mrs. J. M. Clack, Tallahassee, Fla; two sons, H. W. Griffin and Wiley M. Griffin, Jr. both of Bainbridge; 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services for Mr. Griffin will be conducted this morning, Thursday, October 1, at 11 o'clock in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Dyckes and the Rev. Drew Floyd officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery with E. W. Cox and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
