HARRELL, SR. Mr. I. J. Harrell, Sr. well known Bainbridge resident, died suddenly Oct 21 [1962] at his home on Broughton Street at the age of 74. Funeral services for the deceased were held Tuesday morning, Oct. 23 at ll o'clock in the Chapel of the Presbyterian Church of Bainbridge with Rev. Ralph McCaskill officiating. A native of Vidalia, Mr. Harrell had resided in Bainbridge for 35 years, 25 of which he was manager of Birdsey Flour Store here. He, however, was retired in later years. He was a member of the Sportsman's Club and the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Harrell is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hortense Floyd Harrell of Bainbridge; two sons, Col. I J. Harrell, Jr. of Kirkland Air Force Base, Alburquerque, N.M. and Lt. Col William F. Harrell of U.S..C. Camp LeJuene, N.C. and four grandchildren. Those serving as active pallbearers were Curtis Hamilton, R. L. Rich, Jr., Gene Nisbet, Emmett Young, Sonny Jeffords and Harold Emlet. Honorary pallbearers were: Sid Garfinkel, Gerard Kwilecki, Emory Rich, Roy Young, Emmett Horn, Dr. E. M. Griffin, Dr. Gordon Chason, Dr. Henry Bridge, David Bryan, A. R. Reddick, Turner Barber, Owen Fields, R. L. Rich, Sr., Gilbert Gragg, C. S. Haddon, Earl Gragg, John Toole, R. E. Rowan, J. U. Grimsley, Bill White, Thomas Miller, Frank Jones, Wallace Plowden, Earle Donalson, W. L. Lamb, Mason O'Neal, E. W. Cox, Roy Drinkwater, E. G. Elcan and E. B. Harrison. Interment followed in Oak City Cemetery with Cox Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
