W. Fleming, editor Mr. Jefferson Holder Dead. The last issue of the Bainbridge Democrat announces the death of the farther [sic] of Mrs. H. C. Sheffield, of Arlington, as follows: "Died on the 11th inst., at his residence in Decatur county Mr. Jefferson Holder aged 85 years. The deceased was born in Barnwell county, South Carolina, and removed to Early county, Ga., in 1830, where he was married to Miss Elizabeth Sheffield. For the last forty-five years he has been a resident of this county. "Mr. Holder was one of our old time citizens, most loved and venerated by all who knew him. Genial in manner, kindly in disposition, charitable and hospitable, he well illustrated the virtues of the former days of our country. No man ever lived more faithful to his friends and more true to the obligations of citizenship. He was a Catholic in his religious faith and ever loyal to the tenets and observances of his church. "For some years he suffered great bodily afflictions-these he bore with Christian fortitude and resignation. "Five daughters and two sons survive him-Mrs. Hardy Powell, Mrs. Drew Roberts, Mrs. Reuben Williams and Miss Maria Holder, of this county and Mrs. H. C. Sheffield, of Arlington. The sons are John and Jefferson Holder of Decatur. "The life of such men as the deceased is a rich legacy to his family and the country." Lindy Lee Hard
