She was born in Miller County April 25, 1904. She had resided in Statesville for the past 12 years. Prior to moving to Statesville she resided in Brinson. She was the daughter of the late James Dukes and Josephine Daniels, and was the wife of the late Richard Horace King. She was a housewife. Funeral services for Mrs. King was held Saturday, May 13, at 2:00 p. m. from Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Hank Williams and rev. Ed Harrell officiated. Interment was in Brinson Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Paul Dukes, Roy Dukes, Andy Glisson, Allen Glisson, Ernie Estes and John Bridges. Honorary pallbearers were Milton Scott, O. W. Sellers, Kenneth Hodges, Ed Mitchell, Horace Jackson, W. C. Sims, Robert Durham, Harry King and Leroy Hodges. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Glisson, Bainbridge, and Mrs. Louise Stanley, Statesville, North Carolina; one son, E. D. King, Rogers, Arkansas; one sister, Mrs. Ida Lee Evans, Graveland, Fla.; one brother, Rufus Dukes, Brinson; eight grandchildren and 16 great -- grandchildren. Cox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
