Mrs. McNair was born and reared in Decatur County, spending her entire life here. She was born in the lower part of the county, Patterson's Landing, Flint River, being the daughter of John Clements and Caroline Martin Patterson, who were among the first settlers of the county and descended from Revolutionary ancestors of Georgia and North Carolina. She was married October 28th, 1880 to Thomas M. McNair and lived near Recovery, Ga. Eight daughters and one son were born to them, three daughters dieing in infancy. She joined the Methodist church in early life and was always interest in the advancement of His kingdom here on Earth, and doing good where ever the opportunity presented itself. She was a loyal and true wife, and old-fashioned mother, devoting her time and talents to her children in bringing them up to be useful citizens in the community in which they live, and to them we commend the love of the Father who doeth all things well for the greatest comfort in their sorrow and bereavement. She is survived by the following children and grandchildren: Mrs. C. Christman and Mrs. O. D. DeLong, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Elmer Morgan, of Jacksonville, Fla.; Mrs. Rebecca Welsh, Miss Jessie and Morgan McNair, of Bainbridge, Ga., Misses Olga and Helen Welch, Messrs Phillip, Emsley, and Carol Welch, of Bainbridge and Jimmie Morgan, of Jacksonville, Fla. Services were conducted by Rev. M. M. Marshall of the Methodist church, her pastor, and the Rev. Shell of the Baptist Church, in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends, from the home on West Street, Sunday afternoon, September 4th. Interment in Oak City cemetery. Pall bearers were: Messrs S. A. John and Blewett McNair, Phillip and Emsley Welch and E. Morgan, nephews and grand sons. J. J. Edge Funeral Home in charge.
