Ora W. Earnest Dies After Lengthy Illness

Mr. Ora W. Earnest, age 54, died at his home near Bainbridge Sunday night, 
October 10.  Mr. Earnest was a native of Decatur County and he resided in the 
Bethany Community.  He was engaged in farming until ill health forced him to 
retire five years ago.  He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Romelle Valentine Earnest, and four 
children, Mrs. Iola Wilson and Miss Carolyn Earnest of Bainbridge, Mrs. Sarah 
Howard of West Bainbridge and Mrs. Christine Josey of Brinson; his father, G. 
L. Earnest of Donalsonville; nine brothers, Alfred C., Bainbridge, George E., 
T. C., and Gans Earnest all of Panama City, Fla., O. C., R. L., and Duel 
Earnest of Miami, Fla., Sidney and Chalmers Earnest of Donalsonville; three 
sisters, Mrs. William Gray, St. Augustine, Fla., Mrs. George Griner, 
Bainbridge, Miss Frances Earnest, Panama City, Fla.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, October 12, at 3:00 P. M. from 
the Bethany Church with Reverend C. H. Fort and Reverend Charles Bishop 
officiating.

Active pallbearers were: Willie Johnson, Brewster Johnson, R. F. Wheeler, R. O. 
Wheeler, George Friend and H. C. Barber.

Interment was made in Bethany Cemetery with E. W. Cox and Sons in charge.

Ora Wilford Earnest was born 10 December 1894 and died 10 October 1948, son of 
George Ledward Earnest and Sara Penelope Smith.  He married Mary Romelle 
Valentine on 17 December 1916 in Decatur Co., GA Book H, Page 21.
