Mrs. Ruth Gardner

Mrs. Ruth Gardner, 63, of Bainbridge, died July 2, 1983, in the Bainbridge 
Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held July 5, at 11:30 a. m. at the Bethel Baptist Church 
with the Rev. Clayton Blackshear and the Rev. R. M. Dyches officiating.  Burial 
followed at the Bethel Cemetery.

Mrs. Gardner had lived in Quincy, Fla. and had worked at the Quincy Box Co. for 
approximately 20 years prior to her moving to Decatur County 14 years ago.  She 
was a housewife and member of the Highway Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Remus T. Gardner of Bainbridge; four step-
children, Wayne Gardner of Donalsonville, Edward Gardner, Mrs Ray (Alma Jean) 
Parkman and Mrs. Jack (Frances) Barfield all of Macon; two adopted children, 
Mrs. Albert (Wilma Jean) Budro of Atlanta and Leonard DeLane Pearce of 
Bainbridge; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Hoskins of Bainbridge, Mrs. Myrtle 
Atkinson of Greenville and Mrs. Trudie Merle Hicks of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 
four brothers, L. C. Cloud, Bobby Cloud and Lester Cloud all of Bainbridge and 
Linton Cloud of Cairo; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Active pallbearers were Walter Atkinson, Lonnie Atkinson, Allen Gardner, Steve 
Gardner, Sammy Gardner and Burl Gardner.

Honorary pallbearers were Otha Edwards, William Sellers, J. T. Hutto, T. L. 
Rentz, Marvin Rentz, Terry Brogdon, Billy Lane, Leonard I. Pearce and Homer I. 
Pearce.

Cox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Reather Ruth Cloud was born 02 October 1919 and died 05 July 1983, daughter of 
Lonnie Lester Cloud and Mary Gertrude Marshall.  She married first Frank 
Scarborought Cantley, married second Remus Thomas Neville Gardner.
