Bainbridge Post Searchlight, January 12 1967
Jackie Holt, a 23 year young soldier of Decatur County, lost his life in Viet 
Nam during the holiday truce, and was buried with honors last Tuesday afternoon 
at four in the Memorial Cemetery at Columbus.

This young man, who made the supreme sacrifice for his country, was the son of 
the late Ellis Holt and Mrs. Jessie Holt.  Mrs. Holt resides in Columbus.  He 
is the nephew of Willis Holt of Climax.

The deceased was killed when he came into contact with a booby trap and the 
time of his death has not been accurately established.  As far as can be 
determined, he lost his life either on December 31, 1966 or on the next day, 
January 1, 1967.

The young soldier was a graduate of Columbus High School and leaves a large 
family connection in Decatur County.
