Mrs. Doc Merkison of Rt. 1, Brinson dies November 30



Funeral services for Mrs. B. D. (Doc) Merkison, 70, of Rt. 1, Brinson, were 

held at Calvary Assembly of God Church on Dec. 1at 3:00 p. m. with the Rev. Mr. 

Henry Judah and the Rev. Mr. Curtis Earnest officiating.  Interment was in 

Calvary Cemetery with Evans Funeral Home of Donalsonville in charge of 

arrangements.



Mrs. Merkison died on November 30 at a Donalsonville Hospital of a heart 

condition.  Born Nov. 22, 1900 in Seminole County, she had lived in Decatur 

County for the past twenty-nine years and was a member of the Calvary Assembly 

of God Church.  Her father was the late Charlie Cloud and her mother was the 

late Julie King Cloud.



Survivors include her husband, Mr. B. D. Merkison of Donalsonville; two sons, 

Lonnie Merkison of Donalsonville and George R. Merkison of Tallahassee, Fla; 

three daughters, Mrs. Eddie Braswell, Mrs. O. D. Godwin and Mrs. Leroy 

Kirkland, all of Brinson; two brothers, Lindsey Cloud of Donalsonville and Jim 

Carey Cloud of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. C. W. McCard of Thomaston and Mrs. 

George Faircloth of Columbus; twenty grandchildren and twenty-seven great 

grandchildren.



Active pallbearers were: Jack Merkison, Legatte Odom, Gary Braswell, George 

Merkison, Larry Harrell and Milton Braswell.



Honorary pallbearers were: Dockie Earnest, Russell Day, Junior Miller, Earl 

Griffin, David Merkison, Henry Earnest, William Dawson and G. A. Branch.
