L. L. Cloud dies at home after long illness



Funeral services for Mr. Lonnie L. Cloud, 75, of Bainbridge were conducted 

Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 3:30 p. m. from Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. R. C. 

Braswell and Rev. Grady L. Glaze officiating.  Interment was in Bethany 

Cemetery with Cox Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.



Mr. Cloud died on August 24 at his home after a lengthy illness.  Born August 

16, 1894, he had lived his entire life in Decatur County and was a retired 

farmer and logger.



Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Gertrude Cloud of Bainbridge; four 

daughters: Mrs. Ruth Gardner of Quincy, Fla., Mrs. Ruby Hoskins of Bainbridge, 

Mrs. Myrtle Atkinson of Columbus and Mrs. Trudie Merle Hicks of West Palm 

Beach, Fla.; four sons, L. C. Cloud, Lester Cloud and Bob Cloud, all of 

Bainbridge and Linton Cloud of Tallahassee, Fla.; 26 grandchildren; 19 great-

grandchildren; two brothers, L. B. Cloud of Donalsonville, J. C. Cloud of 

Columbus, and three sisters; Mrs. Ella Mae McCard of Thomaston, Mrs. D. B. 

Merkison of Brinson and Mrs. G. L. Faircloth of Columbus.



Active pallbearers were ____ Cloud, Robert Cloud, DeWitt Cloud, Wayne Cloud, 

Walter Atkinson and James Cloud.  



Honorary pallbearers were: Lonnie Merkinson, Virgil Cantley, Eddie Braswell, W. 

B. Odom, Carlton Cook, Perry Cook and Buddy Rentz.

Additional Comments:
Lonnie Lester Cloud was a son of Charles Henry Cloud and Julia H. King Cloud.  

He was married 14 February 1914 Decatur Co., GA Book E, Page 556 to Mary 

Gertrude Marshall born 01 December 1896 and died 13 July 1982.  They are both 

buried at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Decatur Co., GA.
