The Rev. Lowell Layman will officiate. Internment is at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Waymon Michael Phillips, Larry Connell Phillips, Terry Keith Phillips, Dewey Mark Phillips, Scott Douglas Weathersby, John Collins, and Nicholas Scott Weathersby. Mr. Philiips died Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at St. Luke Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. Born March 7, 1933 in Bainbridge, he was the son of the late George Dewey Phillips Sr. and Montie Josey Phillips. He lived in Bainbridge his whole life. He was a member of the Baptist faith, and was retired from Engelhard Minerals and Chemicals after 32 years of service. He was also a retired farmer. He was a member of the Georgia Farm Bureau and was married to Shelby Jean Cain Phillips, who preceded him in death. Survivors include his sons, Waymon Michael Phillips of Brinson, Larry Connell Phillips of Climax, Terry Keith Phillips of Bainbridge, and Dewey Mark Phillips of Climax; daughters, Leatha Jean Weathersby of Climax, Marsha Darlene Collins of Climax, and Sandra Pearl Phillips of Climax; four grandchildren; and sisters Ernestine Rentz of Thomasville, Rachel Grogen of Bushnell, Fla.; and Barbara Watts of Climax--Cox Funeral Home
