(Gus ) Rich, 60 of Bainbridge were held Monday afternoon, June 2, 1958 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. James T. Burrell and Dr. Charles Bishop Officiating. Mr. Rich died Saturday afternoon, May 31st after a short illness. A life time resident of Bainbridge, he was a member of the First Baptist Church, Baracca Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church, Orion Lodge No. 8, F. & A.M., and Hasan Temple of the Shrine. He is survived by his wife Alice Rich, three sons; Earl J. Rich, and Augustus Rich of Bainbridge, Jack Broome of Athens; three daughters, Mrs. J.C. Strickland and Mrs. A.F. Hammer of Bainbridge and Mrs. Herbert Parker of Climax; two sisters, Mrs. T.V. Smith of Quincy, Florida and Mrs. M.J. Holten of Savannah. Twelve grandchildren also survive. Active pallbearers were Melvin Parker, Paul McRae, James Floyd, Walter Pate, C. Ross Rich and W.W. Emanuel. Honorary pallbearers included the Baracca Class of the First Baptist Church and Orion Masonic Lodge. Masonic services were conducted at the graveside. Burial followed in Oak City Cemetery with E.W. Cox and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. *Augustus Gus Rich was born October 07, 1897 in Decatur County, Georgia. His first wife was Willie Bess Glover daughter of Jesse Glover and Susie Harrell. His parents were Eusiah W. Rich and Martha Jane "Mattie" McCann.
