L. E. Pierce officiating. E. W. Cox & Sons Fueral [sic] Home of Bainbridge will be in charge of arrangements. Mr. Smallwood, who died early Monday from a heart attack, was a lifelong prominent citizen of Decatur County. Until a few years ago, when ill health forced his retirement, he was a leader in community affairs, especially in church and school matters. He served many years on the Decatur County Board of Education, and headed it for a number of years as chairman. He was a shade tobacco grower and a dairy farmer in his active days. He was a steward emeritus of the Attapulgus Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Eula Lucile Means of Barnesville; four sons, Alton S., Washington, D.C., and James Franklin, Hoyt Jackson and Thomas Fredric Smallwoood, all of Attapulgus; two sisters, Mrs. S. A. V. Christophine and Mrs. Lillian Odum, both of Attapulgus, and 11 grandchildren.
