Pagter lindysp@sbcglobal.net May 8, 2008, 1:41 am Bainbridge Post-Searchlight, August 31, 1944 Services Held for James Houston Strain Funeral services were held at two o'clock Friday afternoon, August 25th, in the chapel of E. W. Cox Funeral Home for Mr. James Houston Strain, who died in Miami, Fla., August 22nd. Reverend Earnest Quarterman officiated at the services and interment was in Oak City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Gardy Farnell, H. L. Slocumb, Walter Strain, Fred Nordhaus, Jr., N. A. Betts, W. W. Johnson, and A. P. Phillips. Mr. Strain is survived by his wife, Mrs. Claudia Harrington Strain, and one son, Pvt. John E. Strain, of Camp Chaffee, Ark., a brother, John G. Strain, of Bainbridge, and three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Fletcher, Plant City, Fla., Mrs. Bertie Nordhaus, of Mt. Pleasant, Fla., and Mrs. Emma McFall, of Jamison, Florida. E. W. Cox Funeral Home is in charge.
